What an IVG 2400 Reload pod is

A 2400 Reload pod is the replaceable cartridge that sits on top of an IVG 2400 4-in-1 device. It carries the e-liquid, the coils and the mouthpiece, and it is the only part of the system you buy repeatedly. The device body holds the battery and the airflow sensor and keeps going indefinitely; the pod is the consumable.

What makes it unusual is that a single pod is not a single tank. Inside the moulded shell are four separately sealed compartments, each holding 2ml of 20mg nicotine salt e-liquid, each with its own wick and its own heating element. A collar on the pod rotates to index one compartment at a time into line with the airflow channel and the device contacts. Whichever one is aligned is the one that fires; the other three stay sealed and disconnected.

That gets you four flavours out of one £1.29 cartridge and around 2,400 puffs in total, at roughly 600 per chamber. It also means every chamber comes with a brand-new coil, so the fourth flavour tastes as clean as the first — something a conventional single-coil pod cannot manage, because coil performance degrades across a pod's life.

Why they are called Reload pods

The "Reload" name distinguishes the cartridge from the device and from the older, shorter-lived formats IVG used before it. It does not mean the pod is refillable — it means the device is reloaded with a new cartridge rather than the whole thing being thrown away. That distinction became commercially important in 2025, when single-use vapes went off sale in the UK and every manufacturer needed a format where the battery stayed and only the liquid part was replaced.

The same word appears on the Reload Mini, which is a separate, smaller platform with its own pods. The Mini is a single-flavour device at £1.49 with £0.49 two-packs, and its cartridges are not interchangeable with 2400 cartridges despite the shared name. If you have both platforms in the house, label them, because the packaging is similar enough to catch people out.

What you are actually replacing

It is worth being clear about the economics. When you buy a Reload pod you are buying liquid, four coils, four wicks and a moulded shell. The coils are the part with a limited life — in a conventional refillable system you would replace them separately every couple of weeks and refill the tank from a bottle in between. This format bundles them, which costs slightly more per millilitre of liquid and removes every fiddly step. At £1.29 that trade is not a close call for most people.

Compatibility: what these pods fit, and what they do not

IVG 2400 Reload pods fit IVG 2400 4-in-1 devices. That is the whole compatibility list, and it is worth stating plainly because "IVG refill pods" covers at least six mutually incompatible cartridge types.

• They do fit: any IVG 2400 4-in-1 device body, whether it came from a £2.99 clearance kit or a £9.95 standard kit. The mount has not changed across Editions.
• They do not fit: IVG AIR 4-in-1 devices. The AIR uses the same four-chamber principle in a different, slimmer cartridge and the two are not interchangeable.
• They do not fit: IVG PRO, PRO 2 or PRO 5K bodies, which take magnetically-mounted prefilled pods of a completely different shape.
• They do not fit: IVG NEXiO or SMART MAX devices, each of which has its own refill pod.
• They do not fit: IVG SAVR or Reload Mini, which are separate platforms again.

If you are unsure which device you own, the range name is printed on the body, usually near the charging port. Failing that, look at the cartridge you already have: if it has a rotating collar and four flavour markings, it is a 2400 or an AIR, and the 2400 pod is the physically larger of the two. If you are still not certain, the surest route is to buy a 2400 kit — at clearance prices a complete kit costs barely more than a cartridge and removes the question entirely.

Why there is no universal pod

People reasonably ask why a manufacturer would make six incompatible cartridges. The answer is that each platform is designed around a different liquid capacity, coil resistance and airflow geometry, and a pod that physically fitted several bodies would perform properly in none of them. It is not a lock-in strategy so much as the consequence of building genuinely different devices. The practical upshot for you is simply to check the range name before ordering, which is why every collection on this site is organised by platform rather than by flavour.

Inside the cartridge

The four-chamber design is the whole point of the product, so it is worth understanding what is actually in there.

Four sealed compartments

Each compartment is a self-contained 2ml unit: liquid, wick and coil, sealed at manufacture. They share a shell and a mouthpiece opening but nothing else. There is no shared chimney, no shared wick and no shared reservoir, which is why there is no flavour bleed between them even after weeks of rotating back and forth.

The selector collar

The collar is part of the pod rather than the device. Rotating it moves one compartment into alignment with the airflow path and the sprung contacts below. It has defined positions and it must be fully indexed onto one of them — parked halfway, no chamber is connected and nothing fires. That single fact accounts for the majority of "my pod is faulty" reports we receive.

Why 2ml per chamber and not more

The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 cap any nicotine-containing vaping chamber sold in the UK at 2ml. A pod with 8ml in one reservoir would be illegal. Four independently sealed 2ml chambers, each with its own coil and only one connected at a time, is not — each is its own compliant unit. Both are engineering responses to the capacity limit rather than ways around it.

Reading the flavour names

Three conventions run through the whole IVG catalogue and knowing them removes most of the guesswork.

• "Ice" means a cooling agent has been added to the same fruit base. Strawberry and Strawberry Ice are the same fruit with and without menthol. This is not a subtle difference — heavy cooling can dominate the fruit underneath it.
• "Sour" means a food acid has been added for tartness. Blue Sour Raspberry and Blue Raspberry Ice share a base and taste nothing alike.
• "Edition" means a family of four, not a single flavour. This is the one that catches people out most often.

Where to start if you have no idea

Fruits Edition or Special Edition. Both are deliberately varied, which turns your first cartridge into a tasting exercise — use it to find the family you like, then buy that family next time. That is the intended way to use a four-chamber format and it works considerably better than reading flavour descriptions and guessing.

If you are moving off a single-use device

Blue Edition. Blue raspberry was the dominant profile of the disposable era and is the one most people find immediately familiar. If you want it sharper, the Blue Raspberry Ice single-flavour two-pack is the same base with cooling.

If you want cooling without fruit

How to actually use four chambers

Most people default to working through the chambers in order, which is fine for keeping track but wastes the format. The customers who get the most out of a 2400 tend to use one of three patterns.

• Time of day. A lighter, cooler profile in the morning and a sweeter one in the evening. This is the most common approach and the one that most reliably prevents flavour fatigue, because you are never using the same chamber for more than a few hours at a stretch.
• Context. Menthol with coffee, fruit afterwards. Food changes what a flavour tastes like considerably, and an Edition that seems bland after a meal often comes back an hour later.
• Two and two. Two chambers as the working pair, two held in reserve for when the first two start to dull. This effectively doubles the useful life of a cartridge in flavour terms, even though the puff count does not change.

Whichever you use, be deliberate about it. The single most common complaint about any long-life vape is that the flavour "faded", and in the large majority of cases the liquid is unchanged and the palate has simply adapted. A four-chamber cartridge is the cheapest available fix for that, but only if you actually rotate.

Which format to buy

Most regular users end up holding both. An Edition cartridge is what you reach for when you want choice; a two-pack of your default profile is what you keep as a backup so you are never stuck with a family you are not in the mood for. Buying one Edition and one two-pack per order is a sensible standing pattern and costs under £2.

Nicotine strength and what is in the liquid

All 2400 Reload pods are filled with 20mg/ml nicotine salt e-liquid. That is the UK legal maximum and there is no lower-strength version of this cartridge.

Salt nicotine is the same molecule as freebase, buffered with an acid — usually benzoic — which lowers the pH and makes higher concentrations inhale smoothly. At 20mg, freebase nicotine would be harsh in a restricted mouth-to-lung device like this one; salt at 20mg is not. That is why every prefilled pod on the UK market uses it.

If you have come from bottled liquid in a sub-ohm tank, do not assume 20mg will be overwhelming. A sub-ohm device vaporises several times more liquid per puff, so a 3mg tank and a 20mg pod deliver much closer amounts of nicotine per session than the numbers suggest. Give a new format a couple of days before concluding the strength is wrong.

Liquid composition

The base is propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine weighted toward PG, which is standard for mouth-to-lung pods: it carries flavour well, wicks quickly through a small coil and produces a modest vapour volume rather than clouds. Beyond the base there is nicotine, the buffering acid and food-grade flavourings. That is the whole composition.

Ingredients banned in UK e-liquid are not present: diacetyl and its relatives, vitamin E acetate, colourings, caffeine and taurine are all prohibited under UK rules, which is one reason nothing in this range is dyed. Puff count per chamber, and what affects it

Each chamber is rated at roughly 600 puffs, giving the 2,400 headline for a full cartridge. Those figures come from machine testing with a consistent, gentle draw, so treat them as a way of comparing products rather than a promise about your week.

Two variables move the number more than anything else. The first is draw length: a two-second puff uses roughly half the liquid of a four-second one. The second is rest time between puffs. Chain-vaping outruns the wick, which then delivers less liquid per puff, which makes everything taste flat, which makes you draw harder — a feedback loop that empties a chamber noticeably faster and tastes worse doing it.

Realistic figures from customers are 400 to 600 puffs per chamber, which is 1,600 to 2,400 per cartridge. In time terms that is roughly a fortnight for a light user, a week for a moderate one and four days for a heavy one.

Knowing when a chamber is finished

There is no screen and no liquid window, so the cue is taste. As a chamber empties the flavour thins and the vapour goes wispy before anything turns unpleasant. That is the point to rotate. Push past it and you get a dry, sharp draw, at which point the wick is scorched and that chamber is done whatever is left in it. Rotating in a fixed order — one, two, three, four — is the simplest way to keep track of where you are.

Habits that make a chamber last

• Two-second draws. They deliver nearly as much vapour as four-second draws and use roughly half the liquid.
• Twenty to thirty seconds between puffs. This is the single biggest factor in whether a chamber still tastes good at 500 puffs. The wick needs time to re-saturate.
• Keep the device charged. Vapour output falls with voltage, and people who habitually vape in the last fifth of a charge compensate by drawing harder, which empties the chamber faster.
• Store it upright. Liquid in the chimney is wasted liquid and causes gurgling.
• Do not finish a chamber in one sitting. Sustained use heats the coil past what the wick can keep up with, which is what produces the dry, sharp taste.
• Clean the contacts weekly. A dry cotton bud takes seconds and prevents most intermittent firing, which otherwise makes a perfectly good chamber feel finished.

Changing a pod

1. Pull the spent cartridge straight up off the device with a firm, even pull. Nothing unscrews.
2. Wipe the contacts on the device with a dry cloth or cotton bud. Residue here causes most intermittent-firing complaints.
3. Take the new cartridge out of its packaging and remove the mouthpiece plug or film, plus any sticker over the contacts.
4. Push the new cartridge onto the device until it seats. It should feel positive, not loose.
5. Rotate the collar fully onto the first chamber.
6. Stand the device upright for five minutes so the wick saturates. Skipping this is the main cause of a burnt first puff.
7. Take a gentle two-second draw, mouth first, then inhale.
8. Put the spent cartridge aside for small electricals recycling — never in the bin.

Repeat steps five and six every time you rotate to a fresh chamber. Each one has its own untouched wick and needs the same priming as a brand-new cartridge.

How many pods to order

Ordering the right quantity is mostly about not over-buying. Cartridges keep well but they do not keep indefinitely.

The general rule is one in use and one in reserve, plus whatever variety you actually want. What we would not recommend is buying a dozen of one Edition to hit a delivery threshold — flavour fatigue is real, and the point of this platform is choice rather than bulk. Spreading the same money across several families and a couple of single-flavour two-packs gives you a better month.

The exception: clearance stock

Cleared Editions do not restock. If you find a family you genuinely like in the clearance listings, buying three or four is reasonable, because there will not be more later. Use them in order rather than letting the last one sit for a year, and store them properly. Storage and shelf life

Sealed cartridges keep well for months if you treat them sensibly and degrade surprisingly fast if you do not.

• Upright, always. Lying a pod mouthpiece-down encourages liquid into the chimney and causes gurgling when you next use it.
• Cool and dark. Heat and UV are what damage e-liquid. A drawer is ideal; a windowsill, a car dashboard or a radiator shelf is the worst place in the house.
• Sealed until needed. Leave the mouthpiece plug in place on spares.
• Away from children and pets. Nicotine liquid is harmful if swallowed. This is not a formality.
• Not in a freezer. Cold does not preserve e-liquid usefully and a cold pod wicks badly. Room temperature is correct.

Liquid oxidises slowly even in a sealed pod, darkening it and dulling the brighter top notes. Six months in a drawer will not ruin a cartridge; two years will noticeably change it. An open, part-used chamber is fine to come back to after a week or two — rotating away from a half-used chamber and returning later is completely normal and the liquid will be as you left it.

Travelling with pods

Two things change when you travel. The first is cabin pressure. Air pressure drops on a flight, which pushes liquid out through the wick and into the chimney, so pods routinely gurgle or leak slightly after flying. The fix is mechanical rather than clever: carry cartridges upright in a sealed bag, take the cartridge off the device before boarding, and expect to tap a pod out onto a tissue when you land.

The second is heat. A cartridge left in a hot car, a sunny hotel window or a beach bag will be noticeably worse when you use it than when you packed it. Pack spares in the middle of a case rather than an outside pocket and keep them out of direct sun at the other end.

On the regulatory side, vape devices and spare cartridges must travel in hand luggage rather than hold luggage on flights, because of the lithium cell in the device — that is an airline safety rule, not a vaping one, and it applies to the device whether or not you have pods with you. Check the rules for wherever you are going before you pack: nicotine products are restricted or banned outright in a number of countries, and a device that is entirely legal here is not necessarily legal there.

Pod problems and what they mean

Nothing fires

Check the collar is fully indexed onto a chamber rather than parked between two. This is specific to multi-chamber pods and it is the most common cause by a distance. Then reseat the cartridge, wipe both sets of contacts, and charge the device for ten minutes in case the cell is flat.

Burnt or sharp taste

Dry wick. Stand the pod upright for ten minutes and try again gently. If it still tastes burnt, that chamber is finished — rotate to the next. A scorched wick does not recover.

Gurgling or spitting

Too much liquid has reached the coil, usually from hard draws, a pressure change on a flight, or the device being carried mouthpiece-down. Take the cartridge off, tap it gently mouthpiece-down onto a folded tissue, wipe the contacts and refit.

Leaking into the device

Occasional dampness around the contacts is normal condensation. Actual leaking is not. Wipe both halves dry, check the cartridge seal for damage, and if a specific cartridge keeps doing it, that one is faulty — tell us which Edition and we will replace it.

Weak vapour on a full pod

Almost always a low battery. Output falls with voltage and the last stretch of a charge always feels thin. Charge fully before concluding the cartridge is at fault.

One chamber will not work

Confirm the collar is fully indexed on that chamber. If it is and nothing happens, that chamber has a manufacturing fault. You should not have to accept three working quarters of a cartridge; let us know the Edition and which position.

The flavour has faded but the chamber is not empty

This is usually palate adaptation rather than the pod. Switch chambers for a day and come back to it. It is precisely the problem a four-flavour cartridge exists to solve.

Running a 2400 alongside another platform

Plenty of customers do not choose. A 10K device handles the default all-day flavour and needs charging every few days; a 2400 handles variety and travels well. Between the two you never have a flat battery and you are never stuck with a profile you have gone off. Reaching the free delivery threshold

At £1.29 a cartridge this takes a reasonable number of items, and the temptation is to bulk-buy one Edition. A better shape is several different families, a couple of X2 two-packs of a profile you already know, and — if you do not already have one — a spare device from the clearance kits, which costs less than two cartridges and removes the flat-battery problem entirely.

Age verification

Every order is age-verified before it is picked. Most checks run automatically against public records and you will not notice them. Where an automatic check cannot confirm you are 18 or over, we email and ask for a passport, UK driving licence or PASS-accredited proof-of-age card. Orders are held rather than cancelled until it is resolved, and the courier may also ask for ID at the door. This is a legal requirement and we make no exceptions.

Stock and returns

Editions rotate and we do not substitute without asking. If something sells out between your order and picking, we will contact you with the options rather than sending a different family. Recycling a spent cartridge

A used 2400 pod still contains four coils and their electronic connections. It is small electrical waste, not plastic packaging, and it must never go into household waste or a kerbside recycling bin.

• Take spent cartridges to your council's household waste recycling centre, in the small electricals or battery stream.
• Many supermarkets and larger retailers operate in-store collection points that accept them.
• Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations, UK retailers selling electrical goods must provide a take-back route. We meet our WEEE obligations and will point you to the nearest option if you ask.
• Never puncture, crush or incinerate a cartridge. There is liquid and there is a coil, and neither reacts well to being cut open.

2400 Reload pods comply with the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016: each chamber holds no more than 2ml, the liquid is no stronger than 20mg/ml, packaging is child-resistant and tamper-evident with the mandated warnings and leaflet, and every product is notified to the MHRA before it goes on sale. The platform also complies with the single-use vape ban in force since 1 June 2025, because the device body is rechargeable and the cartridge is replaceable.

Which devices do IVG 2400 Reload pods fit?

IVG 2400 4-in-1 devices only, whether the body came from a clearance kit or a standard one — the mount has not changed across Editions. They do not fit IVG AIR, which uses a different four-chamber cartridge, and they do not fit PRO, PRO 2, PRO 5K, NEXiO, SMART MAX, SAVR or Reload Mini. The range name is printed on the device body.

How many flavours are in one pod?

Four. Each cartridge contains four separately sealed 2ml compartments, each with its own wick and coil, and a collar rotates to select between them. The four sit within one family, so a Cherry Edition gives you four cherry-family profiles rather than four unrelated flavours. The product page for each Edition lists the exact four chambers.

What does 'Edition' mean?

It is a flavour family, not a single flavour. Blue Edition is the blue raspberry family, Menthol Edition is mint and menthol, Exotic Edition is tropical. Within each, the four chambers differ — some sweeter, some sharper, some iced. If you want one flavour across the whole cartridge instead, buy a single-flavour X2 two-pack.

How long does one Reload pod last?

The headline figure is about 2,400 puffs, or roughly 600 per chamber, measured by machine with a gentle consistent draw. Real-world figures are usually 400 to 600 per chamber. In time terms, a light user gets about a fortnight from a cartridge, a moderate user about a week, and a heavy user around four days.

Can I refill a 2400 pod?

No. The four chambers are sealed at manufacture with the wicks already positioned against the coils, and there is no fill port. Forcing one open damages the wick alignment, usually floods a coil and leaves the cartridge leaking into the device. It also voids any warranty. At £1.29 for four fresh chambers and four fresh coils there is no cost argument for it.

Why is one chamber not working?

First check the collar is fully indexed onto that chamber rather than parked between two positions — nothing is connected in between, and this explains most reports. If it is properly aligned and still silent, that chamber has a manufacturing fault. Tell us the Edition and which position and we will replace the cartridge; three working quarters is not acceptable.

What nicotine strength are they?

All 2400 Reload pods are 20mg/ml nicotine salt, the UK legal maximum, and there is no lower-strength version of this cartridge. Salt nicotine is buffered with an acid so high strengths inhale smoothly in a restricted mouth-to-lung device. Lower strengths in the IVG range are found in bottled e-liquids rather than prefilled pods.

Should I buy an Edition pod or an X2 two-pack?

An Edition if you want variety, a two-pack if you have a profile you stick with. Most regular users hold both: an Edition for choice and a two-pack of their default as backup, so they are never stuck with a family they are not in the mood for. Buying one of each per order costs under £2.

How should I store spare pods?

Upright, sealed, somewhere cool and dark, away from children and pets. Heat and sunlight are what damage e-liquid — a cartridge left on a windowsill or a car dashboard will never taste right again. Do not freeze them; cold pods wick badly and room temperature is correct. Sealed cartridges keep well for months but not indefinitely.

Why did my pod taste burnt on the first puff?

The wick was dry. Every chamber has its own untouched wick and needs a few minutes standing upright to saturate before first use. Stand the cartridge upright for ten minutes and try again gently. Doing this at setup, and again each time you rotate to a fresh chamber, prevents it. A properly scorched wick does not recover.

How many pods should I order at once?

One in use and one in reserve covers most people, plus whatever variety you actually want. We would not suggest buying a dozen of one Edition to hit the free-delivery threshold — flavour fatigue is real and the point of this format is choice. Spread it across a few families and a couple of single-flavour two-packs instead.

How do I dispose of a spent cartridge?

As small electrical waste, never in household waste or kerbside recycling. A used pod still contains four coils and their connections. Take spent cartridges to a council household waste recycling centre small electricals stream or an in-store collection point. Collect them in a tub and make one trip every few months rather than a trip each time. Never puncture or burn them.
